The Recognitions
William Gaddis
Bard Books, NY, 1974. First Bard Printing, Second Printing. Very good shape; some creasing to rear and front, and small tears in front cover.
The Recognitions is one of my all time favorite books. An almost indescribable masterpiece reflecting on art, authenticity, forgery, and the elusive nature of the hipster. Completely predictive of our current crisis of authenticity in the digital age, one need only look at Gaddis' proto-AI takedown of player pianos [Stop Player. Joke #4.] to know that he was a singular genius, and one American's greatest contributors to world literary canon.
I can't recommend this book enough, and this particular edition, a beautifully preserved early, MASSIVE, paperback, is the coolest I own. Yet, I wish for others to read and enjoy this one, so have at it.
Highest Recommendation.
