The People in the Attic: The Haunting of Doretta Johnson
Doretta Johnson & Jim Henderson
St. Martin’s Press, New York, 1995. First Edition.
Slight chipping of dust jacket, otherwise very clean. Very good.
I love a good, haunted house history, and this book is absolutely in the upper echelons of the genre. Psychedelic, legitimately frightening, and written with a surprisingly compelling novelistic approach, The People in the Attic is what you want in your “based on a true story” exorcism novel. The imagery in this one is what sticks; from the descriptions of an insect-based siege of the house through a crawl space, to the vivid exorcism, there is a lot to work with here for those seeking inspiration from the dark side. Fairly uncommon, especially in this condition.
