The Natives’ Return tells the story of Louis Adamic’s journey to his homeland of Yugoslavia. I’m shocked at the poetry of his writing, his keen wit and humor on full display. This book has no right being so lucid, funny and easy to read – almost like Gary Shteyngart filtered through a pre-WW2 lens. You’ve likely never heard of this, but you should. Wonderful stuff.
