The Medusa Frequency
Russell Hoban
The Atlantic Monthly Press, New York, 1987. First Printing of First American Edition.
Some adhesive residue on the cover and a few dings to the dust jacket, very good otherwise.
Hoban is a favorite here at Alarum, particularly his postapocalyptic picaresque Riddley Walker. The Medusa Frequency is an awesome, fast paced work of metafiction. Following a slacker comic artist and semi-failed novelist who receives a medical procedure to get rid of his writer’s block, he finds himself hallucinating the decapitated head of Orpheus…from there, it goes strange places. Hoban rules, this book is great, and you will love it.
