The Master & The Margarita
Mikhail Bulgarov
Grove Press, NY. 1967. First Evergreen Blackcat Paperback Edition. A little bit of soiling to cover and spine, slight yellowing. A very good copy. Includes a cute imagined dialogue from a gifter to a giftee on two note cards.
Truly one of the greatest works of Russian literature. Psychotically good. I mean, think about it.
"When the devil arrives in 1930s Moscow, consorting with a retinue of odd associates—including a talking black cat, an assassin, and a beautiful naked witch—his antics wreak havoc among the literary elite of the world capital of atheism."
Does that not sell you? This book has some amazing looking editions - this being one of those. High "aura".
As the included note says:
"Before you is a copy of the 2nd best Russian novel of this century. You mission, should you choose to accept it, is to identify the main + major mythic images in this book."
