The first serious monograph surveying the works of Ralph Eugene Meatyard. This one comes with text by James Baker Hall with a reminiscence by Guy Davenport. Meatyard was a brilliant autodidact best known for his surreal photography of southern weirdos festooned in masks, posed with dolls, giving his whole ouvre a dreamlike and bizarre aura. There is some really brilliant work in here, very inspirational. Do you dig all the distorted masks on Aaron Dilloway's work? You'll love this. Highly recommended. An unbelievably clean copy.
