David Hicks
Britwell Books, England. 1970. First edition hardcover. A few tiny tears to the dust jackets upper edge, otherwise beautiful. An excellent copy.
From the publisher:
"In the third title of the highly coveted and out-of-print series, legendary British decorator David Hicks narrows his focus to the highly functional and often overlooked bathroom. Lavishly illustrated with photographs of his own designs (he's famous for floating the tub in the center of the room) and historical images of drop-dead gorgeous lavatories from the past (Villa Kerylos and Château de Groussay, to name a few), this is a specialized volume with loads of inspiration and a master class worth of practical advice."
This book, and the others in the series by Hicks, has an uncanny totemic quality to it. It speaks such a high dialect of design that I could see some acolyte of the Machine God referring to it while laying out the Imperial Palace of the God Emperor of Mankind in 40,000AD. A true masterpiece, shockingly well preserved. Cheapest copy in the world (?)
