Arno Schmidt is the latest writer to completely suck me in. I love his ouvre, it's really astonishing. This one is no different - I think "Scenes from the Life of a Faun" may be my favorite short novel I have read...possibly ever? Yes, you can get a more modern reprint for less but you know what? It kinda sucks! They botched the proofing, and in general it's an inferior product to the OG. Highest recommendation.
