Hellebore #5: The Unearthing Issue
Hellebore, England, 2021. First edition. Octavo.
Like new, no issues to speak of.
From the publisher: “e re-emergence of cursed objects, human remains, and Martian spaceships threatens us with the repetition of past traumas and forgotten histories. But if the earth often acts as a repository of our darkest truths, the act of unearthing forces us to confront them. In spite of fears and tribulations, only by learning about our past will we stand the chance of breaking the cycle.”
Hellebore are a part of the current, very exciting, resurgence in interest in so called “folk horror” and mythologies of Britain. This issue has several fantastic articles ranging from archaeological studies to analyses of classic folk horror films like “Blood on Satan’s Claws”. Every issue is lovingly laid out, and packed with vital, well written articles bringing our dark past back to sinister light. I love this publication and think this is a great spot to start.
