Harvest Home
Thomas Tryon
Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1975. Book Club Edition
Half-inch tear to the upper left front of the dust jacket, creasing of the front board, some crinkling to the bottom rear of the dust jacket, otherwise in remarkable condition. Very good.
A folk horror hit when it dropped in 1973, hitting the New York Times Best Seller list and eventually leading to a 1978 miniseries for NBC, Harvest Home isn’t exactly a household name these days, but for those of us partaking in the wholescale rediscovery of hidden folk horror gems it comes with a strong recommendation. Imagine the Wicker Man by way of rural New England, with a Stephen King style sense of folkways and dialect. Fun stuff.
