Nick Land
Urbanomic/Sequence, England, 2019. Seventh edition. Octavo.
A bit of rippling on the spine; slight discoloration to cover and rear. Otherwise, pristine.
From the publisher: “During the 1990s British philosopher Nick Land’s unique work, variously described as ‘rabid nihilism’, ‘mad black deleuzianism’ and ‘cybergothic’, developed perhaps the only rigorous and culturally-engaged escape route out of the malaise of ‘continental philosophy’—a route that was implacably blocked by the academy.”
Nick Land is a real freak and this brick of a text will either drive you mad, leave you desperately confused, or turn you into a neon dreadlock cybergoth hard stepping digital warlord…or perhaps all three. Intensely bizarre, swapping between the haggard tone of the academic whose left the world behind to a more ominous, portentous voice threading qabbala and technology like Giordano Bruno on speed. My recommendation? Skip the first few academic essays then jump straight into the bizarre, starting with “Delighted to Death.” Important, odd.
