Breaking the Iron Bonds: Indian Control of Energy Development
Marjane Ambler
University of Kansas Press, Kansas, 1990. First Edition. Hardcover.
A pristine copy. Excellent.
Did you know that over 1/3 of this country’s coal and uranium resources, along with vast reserves of oil and gas, are owned by tribes? Think about that for a second; in a country that is so dedicated to power in all its forms, 1/3 of its most vital resources are controlled by sovereign nations within its borders. This book is badass; anthropological in its assessment of case studies, it shows the effects, struggles, and history of American and tribal conflict and collaboration over their rightly owned natural resources. Ambler’s expertise is evident given her seemingly infinite knowledge on this deeply esoteric subject matter. An extremely cool book, highly recommended.
