A Treasury of Witchcraft
Harry E. Wedeck
Citadel Press, NJ.1961. Paperback edition. Some soiling to edges of text block and creasing/dings to the front and rear cover. Interior clean. A very good copy.
From the publisher:
"A Treasury of Witchcraft is a source book of the magic arts, including and astrology, lycanthropy and necromancy, and all the varieties of thaumaturgical practices, from the earliest times to the present day. This text cites historical sequence, and presents actual records referring to witchcraft and sorcery as realities."
A great book from a great publisher. This is truly a source book - invocations pepper the body of the text, which ranges from black mass reportage to random occult anecdotes that make me think of the poetic essays of someone like Eliot Weinberger. For example:
Devil as Cat
The devil did appear in the form of a pretty hansom young man first, and since appeareth to her in the form of a blackish gray cat, or kitling, that it sucketh of a tett which searchers since saw in the place she mentioned.
