2012: The Return of Quetzacoatl
Daniel Pinchbeck
Penguin, NY 2006. First edition hardcover. Slight bumps to edges of dust jacket, but otherwise a beautiful copy. Excellent.
From the publisher:
"This is a literary and metaphysical epic that binds together the cosmological phenomena of our time, ranging from crop circles to quantum theory to the worldwide resurgence of shamanism, supporting the Mayan prophecy that the year 2012 will bring an unprecedented global shift."
Again, another artifact out of time. Written in 2006, with the lysergic demiurge pulling Pinchbeck towards absolute certainty of a "global shift" in 2012, it's now 2025 and the world is fucked. What changed? Has anything good happened? Will anything good happen again? Maybe the answer is to understand that we have given up the sensuous world for something bitter and fake, and to realize we need to learn through our senses again. Smell weird things, touch slimy stuff, taste good food, listen to noise, and read, with our eyes, the failed prophecies of our forebears! Go wild, it's cheap and fun.
